UNDERSTANDING PROGRESS

Filed versus Closed.

Recording an action and closing its review are separate steps.

Filed

A submission or payment has been recorded with its actual date. A Not applicable provisional-tax decision also counts as dealt with; it does not record a payment.

Closed

The completion basis and supporting evidence are recorded and the filing fields are locked. Most tax items require authority confirmation.

Annual Levy payment

Recording a completed Annual Levy payment closes that item. The payment record remains distinct from authority confirmation.

Expected loss and provisional tax

Not applicable stays open until the yearly accounts are completed and a dated, evidenced confirmation of no taxable profit is recorded for that company and tax year. An expected loss alone does not close the item.

Keep steps and actions separate

Steps, notes and assignments explain progress. Checking a preparation step does not submit or close an obligation.

Keep uncertainty visible

Without a confirmed filing history, keep the item Not sure. Do not enter confidential information in notes.
